PRIDE MONTH || OUTDOOR FILMS THIS SUMMER IN NYC

Every summer, like clockwork, New Yorkers city-wide dust off their picnic blankets, pull out their list of favorite screw top wines (our current fav is an easy drinking orange wine from Croatia, a Bura Rukatac for about $15) and plan for the onslaught of outdoor summer film festivals! For the LGBTQIAPK community, here's a concentrated list of queer-friendly flicks you will find on the outdoor film screening lists this summer.

First off, what better way to not only kick off not only the summer but Pride Month than with a screening of Stonewall at the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center in the West Village on June 14th (8pm). Stonewall chronicles a young man's political awakening and coming of age during the days and weeks leading up to the Stonewall Riots. The Tony Dapolito Rec Center is actually hosting an entire Pride Series this month, including screenings of Moonlight, Sunday Church and Pariah.

All summer long the Brooklyn Bridge Park's outdoor movie series celebrates the work of women, transwomen and genderqueer directors. Each show kicks off at 6pm. with music and food and drinks available for purchase from Smorgasburg.
